Doe Season

Doe Season was about a girl named Andy who was 9 years old and was going deer hunting for the first time. Andy was going hunting with her father and her father's friend Charlie Spoon and his son Mac who was 11 years old. I feel sorry for Andy because Mac and Charlie are always on her because she is the "girl" of the group and no one thinks she can shoot a deer, little did they know that she would be the one who spot the deer and would eventually shoot it.

The day they went hunting, "They had risen long before dawn." (456). They went to Pennsylvania to hunt in a field that Mac and Charlie had scoped out just two weeks before hand. Mac didn't like the fact that Andy was going with them because hunting in his eyes was for the men. By the end of the hunting trip, I believe that Mac realized that Andy was a good shot and could hunt with the best of them. Her spotting the deer in the woods and actually taking a shot at it, showed that she was good. She was the only one to spot deer all weekend and it was to her luck that she got to show her skills off to Mac and Charlie.
